The Blue Room

I used to be someone that would usually go for the whiter side of the decor spectrum, so this room was quite a jump into the unknown for me! Â However I was determined that it needed to be blue, as the room parallel was going to be a lighter colour and we needed some contrast in the house. We started this mission with endless patch tests. I think we must have tried at least 12 various blues from many a brand and finally settled on Stifkey blue by Farrow and Ball. This has ended up being one of my favourite rooms in the house, despite being a cool shade, it is extremely cosy and warm and is now very much the go to room to relax, read, watch TV and hang out in. Â I love the contrast of the white and wood against it and metallic colours also look gorgeous. Since painting this room I have ventured to paint further areas in the house in bolder colours, so our house is now a mix of darker and lighter shades. Â

Before....
As well as painting this room blue, we had new hard wood flooring put down as the below was laminate and the radiators were also moved and replaced with a more in keeping style.
