The Blue Room

I used to be someone that would usually go for the whiter side of the decor spectrum, so this room was quite a jump into the unknown for me!  However I was determined that it needed to be blue, as the room parallel was going to be a lighter colour and we needed some contrast in the house. We started this mission with endless patch tests. I think we must have tried at least 12 various blues from many a brand and finally settled on Stifkey blue by Farrow and Ball. This has ended up being one of my favourite rooms in the house, despite being a cool shade, it is extremely cosy and warm and is now very much the go to room to relax, read, watch TV and hang out in.  I love the contrast of the white and wood against it and metallic colours also look gorgeous. Since painting this room I have ventured to paint further areas in the house in bolder colours, so our house is now a mix of darker and lighter shades.

Before....

As well as painting this room blue, we had new hard wood flooring put down as the below was laminate and the radiators were also moved and replaced with a more in keeping style.
